Introducing our new RF-WR engine cases, featuring the following general specifications:

A - INTRODUCTION:

  • These engine cases, which utilize some existing original parts, are not Plug N'Play adaptable cases for DERBI motorcycles.
  • The architecture of these cases has been specifically designed to provide the best possible performance.

B - GENERAL DATA:

Architecture and Compatibility of Parts:

  • Mounting points at the front and rear are identical to DERBI engines.
  • Mounting on a chassis WITHOUT a lower cradle and WITHOUT lower engine mounts.
  • Compatible with all DERBI E3/4 parts such as gearbox, selector, clutch, cylinder, and crankshaft.
  • Cylinder inclined 10° forward compared to the original DERBI engine.
  • Cylinder type DERBI E3/E4 or FL cylinder.
  • Increased distance between the crankshaft axis and the primary shaft to allow for the possible installation of large diameter crankshafts (up to Ø84mm!).
  • The specific architecture of this engine (forward-tilted cylinder + relocated balancing shaft) has been designed to use the shortest possible intakes. This allows the mounting of KEIHIN PWK 28 to PWK 38S carburetors in a short mount, without large intake manifold spacers.

Engine Head:

  • For DERBI E3/E4 type cylinder or FL cylinder.
  • Cylinder inclined 10° forward compared to the original DERBI engine.

Crankshafts:

  • Crankshaft housing machined to Ø79mm, for mounting DERBI E3/E4 STD Ø77mm weights.
  • Can be machined up to Ø86mm, for fitting weights up to Ø84mm.

Intake:

  • Plug n'Play mounting of VForce 3i/VForce 4 HONDA CR85 reed valves.
  • By machining, it is possible to mount large VForce4 reed valves for YAMAHA Banshee.
  • Mounting of PWK28 to 38 carburetors without large intake spacers: short intake.

Gearbox, Selector, and Primary Transmission:

  • Use of all original DERBI gearbox, selector, and clutch parts.
  • The oil levels for the gearbox and transmission are separate and have been optimized to limit losses from churning. Thus, the gearbox oil level is only 0.15L, and the primary transmission level is 0.12L.
  • Delivered with CNC clutch bell, primary transmission gear and wheel, with a 20/73 ratio.
  • The transmission cover is equipped with a removable cap, allowing for quick replacement of clutch discs.

Balancing Shaft:

  • Adjustable balancing shaft with additional counterweights, to adapt to each displacement.
  • Different counterweights will be available soon.

Ignition:

  • The ignition plate, which also serves as a support/stop for the oil seal and crankshaft bearing, is designed for mounting PVL ignition flywheel, with a Ø90mm center.

Cooling:

  • To optimize performance, we chose not to use a mechanical water pump. Therefore, an electric water pump must be used.

Fuel Pump:

  • We have provided a drilling/tapping for mounting a vacuum take-off, in case a mechanical fuel pump is used.

C - COMPOSITION:

  • 1 set of CNC engine cases
  • 1 clutch cover + CNC cap
  • 1 set of primary transmission gear and wheel
  • 1 CNC clutch bell
  • 1 set of balancing shaft gear and wheel
  • 1 balancing counterweight
  • 1 ignition stator support plate
  • 1 oil seal and pressure regulation piece between primary transmission and gearbox
  • 1 central case gasket
  • 1 transmission cover gasket
  • 1 gasket for ignition plate Ø51x2
  • 1 gasket for transmission cover cap Ø128x2
  • 2 crankshaft bearings 6204 ETN9 C3H
  • 1 ball bearing + 1 needle bearing for balancing shaft
  • 1 ball bearing + 1 needle bearing for primary shaft
  • 1 ball bearing + 1 needle bearing for secondary shaft
  • 2 bearing and oil seal stops
  • 1 breather system type banjo
  • 1 fitting for mounting a vacuum fuel pump
  • Miscellaneous screws

D - IMPORTANT: PRE-REQUISITES:

As previously noted, the pursuit of performance has dictated the architecture of these cases. They will not necessarily be Plug N'Play on all chassis!

  • The user will need to:
  • Modify the chassis if necessary, by removing the lower cradle and its central mounting bracket.
  • Check and, if necessary, adapt the exhaust to the new cylinder angle.
  • Shorten the secondary shaft by removing the shoulder for mounting the kick gear.
  • Use an electric water pump.
